Privacy Policy

Last updated: 17 August 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how ConjuGo ("ConjuGo", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our iOS mobile application (the "App") and our website at conjugo.me (together, the "Service").

ConjuGo is operated by Alojz Kovacik, based in Switzerland. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at support@conjugo.me.

1. Information we collect

1.1 Information you provide

  • Account information — when you sign in with Google or with Apple, we receive your email address, a pseudonymous account identifier issued by that provider, and (where you allow it) your profile name. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we only ever see Apple's relay address. The provider identifier is specific to ConjuGo and is retained after account deletion for the limited purpose described in section 6.2.
  • Onboarding preferences — a username you choose (it is only used to address you inside the App and does not have to be your real name), your self-assessed French level, chosen topics, weekly schedule, and reminder preferences.
  • Learning activity — which verbs and tenses you practice, your answers (correct and incorrect), streak data, and accuracy trends.
  • Support communications — if you email us, we retain the contents to respond and improve the Service.

1.2 Information collected automatically

  • Device and usage data via Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics (both provided by Google): device type and model, operating system version, app version, coarse location (country/region), device language, anonymous app-instance identifier, session data, and crash diagnostics.
  • Subscription status via Apple's StoreKit: your subscription tier and renewal status. We never see or store payment card details — those are handled entirely by Apple.
  • Push notification tokens, if you grant notification permission, so we can send you practice reminders.

1.3 Information we do NOT collect

ConjuGo does not collect your precise location, your contacts, your photos or camera, your microphone, your browser history, your advertising identifier (IDFA), or any payment card data. We do not show ads and we do not use remarketing or cross-app tracking.

2. How we use your information

  • To provide the core functionality of the App (saving your progress, tailoring drills to your level, sending reminders).
  • To operate, maintain, and improve the Service (fixing bugs, analyzing aggregate usage patterns).
  • To process subscription payments via Apple's StoreKit.
  • To communicate with you about your account, service updates, or support requests.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your learning data to train AI models.

3. Legal basis for processing (GDPR / Swiss nLPD)

For users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, our legal bases are:

  • Performance of a contract — processing necessary to provide the Service you signed up for (account, progress tracking, subscription delivery).
  • Legitimate interests — analytics and crash reporting to maintain and improve the Service, security, and fraud prevention (including the free-trial record described in section 6.2, which prevents the same person claiming repeated free trials).
  • Consent — push notifications (which you can revoke at any time in iOS Settings).
  • Legal obligation — where required to retain records for tax, accounting, or regulatory compliance.

4. Third parties we share information with

  • Google (Firebase) — hosts our authentication, database, analytics, and crash reporting. Data is processed in the United States. More info: Firebase Privacy and Security.
  • Apple — handles app distribution, subscription purchases, and Sign in with Apple if used. More info: Apple Privacy Policy.

We may also disclose information in the following circumstances:

  • Legal requirements — where disclosure is required by law, regulation, legal process, or an enforceable governmental request, or where reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of ConjuGo, our users, or the public, including to enforce our Terms and prevent fraud or abuse.
  • Business transfers — if ConjuGo, or substantially all of its assets, is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, incorporation of the business into a company, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred to the acquiring or successor entity as part of that transaction. The successor remains bound by this Privacy Policy (or one at least as protective) with respect to the transferred data, and we will notify you of any change in controller.

We may use and share aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you (for example, overall accuracy statistics for a verb across all learners) for any purpose, including improving the Service and describing it to partners.

We do not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or marketing networks.

5. International data transfers

We are based in Switzerland. The third-party services above may process your data in the United States. For users in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, these transfers are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

6. Data retention and account deletion

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active.

6.1 Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time from within the App, under Settings → Account → Delete Account. No email or support request is required. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.

When you delete your account we remove your sign-in credentials, your profile and settings, your entire practice history (verb progress, review schedule, daily statistics, streaks, per-question answer log), your chosen topics and reminders, and the copy of that data stored locally on your device.

Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription. Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us. Cancel yours in your Apple account settings, otherwise billing continues.

6.2 What we keep after deletion, and why

Two small records outlive a deleted account. Neither contains your name, email address, or any of your learning data.

  • A free-trial record. ConjuGo offers one free trial per person. To enforce that, we keep a single record noting that a trial was started and the date it began. It is filed under a pseudonymous identifier issued by Apple or Google that is unique to ConjuGo — it is not your email address or your Apple/Google username, and it cannot be used to identify you in any other app or service. We keep this indefinitely: if it were erased along with your account, deleting and re-registering would grant an unlimited supply of free trials. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in preventing fraud and abuse (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
  • Expired entitlement timestamps. Records of when a trial or promotional code was granted, filed under the internal account number of the deleted account. That account number no longer refers to anything, so these records cannot be linked back to you.

If you want the trial record removed as well, email support@conjugo.me and we will assess the request. Note that removing it makes a further free trial available, so we may decline where we consider the request abusive, as data protection law permits when a legitimate interest in fraud prevention applies.

6.3 Legally required retention

Where the law requires us to keep records we do so regardless of deletion — for example tax records relating to subscription payments, which Swiss law requires us to retain for 10 years. Apple, not ConjuGo, holds your payment details.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have some or all of the following rights:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification — correct inaccurate data.
  • Erasure — request that we delete your account and data.
  • Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Objection / restriction — object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Withdrawal of consent — withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
  • Complaint — lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In Switzerland, the supervisory authority is the FDPIC.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@conjugo.me. You can also delete your account directly from within the App under Settings → Account → Delete Account.

8. Your California privacy rights (CCPA / CPRA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. ConjuGo does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise your rights, email support@conjugo.me. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

9. Children's privacy

The App's content is suitable for all ages, consistent with its App Store age rating. Creating an account, however, requires a minimum age: 13 years, or 16 in the EEA, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland unless a parent or legal guardian has consented. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below these ages. If you believe a child has created an account or otherwise provided us with personal information, contact us at support@conjugo.me and we will delete it.

10. Security

We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including TLS encryption in transit, Firebase's encryption at rest, and Firestore security rules. No system is perfectly secure; if we become aware of a breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the App or by email. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects when it was last revised.
